Welcome to the 60bpm Gallery

This is just the latest version of my online gallery. Here is a bit of information on the various sections of the site, all of which can be reached via the menu bar above:

Ultimately, I plan to have this site contain everything I've created, along the lines of static, physical artwork. If you find a piece that you like, I'd be happy to make a print for you or create a high resolution file for you to download so that you can make your own. Just ask and let me know which piece you're interested in.

Site Design Notes

There were three concerns I had while creating this site: visitor connection speed, visitor monitor resolution and high-resolution artwork downloads.

Regarding the visitor's connection speed, if I made the quality of the images too high (resulting in excessively large file sizes), the site would load slowly for those with slower connections. However, if I made the quality of the images low, the artwork would look shoddy and defeat the purpose of the site. Ultimately, I decided to go with higher image quality. Thus, I sort of apologize for the site's loading rate, but hope you appreciate why this is the case.

When it came to the visitor's monitor resolution, I had another paradox with which to deal. On one hand, if I kept in mind the average visitor's monitor resolution (1024 x 768), the layout became cramped and much of the detail in the artwork was lost. On the other hand, if I designed the layout without the average visitor in mind, chances are she wouldn't be able to view the artwork in her browser without having to use scrollbars. To make matters worse, even sticking to guidelines based-on the average monitor resolution were no guarantee because there are so many variables when it comes to the way a browser is configured (i.e. toolbars). In the end, I did my best to find a middle-ground, but after some testing on other computers, I've realized I didn't do the best job. Hopefully, this doesn't affect your experience to profoundly.

Finally, I originally planned to offer a link for each piece of artwork that would allow visitors to download high-resolution version of the piece they were viewing. The way I saw it, if I could offer a high-resolution version of the artwork, then I could settle for a lower-quality/faster-loading site. However, once I got to thinking about indiscriminately offering high-resolution, print quality versions of my artwork on the internet, I quickly changed my mind. Yes, I thought about a digital watermark, but the though of essentially ruining my artwork doesn't appeal to me. So, at the moment, there is no high-resolution option, but I'm still considering a way to accomplish it. Of course, if you would like a high-resolution version of one of my pieces, just ask me for it. Chances are if I find-out what you'd like it for, I'll hook you up.

Use Firefox

If you're still using Internet Explorer, please stop. That browser especially makes my site(s) look horrible. Join the revolution and begin using Mozilla Firefox browser. Try it out. You can always go back to Internet Explorer, if you don't like it, but I bet you won't. The interweb is so much more enjoyable through Firefox.
